Sad-Iron Heater

10. Sad-Iron Heater, U. S. Patent 70,572, November 5, 1867, George Hurdman, Wolverhampton, England.

The invention is an iron for pressing clothes. A sliding lid allows access to a box to add charcoal.

The 7" x 4" x 8" model is wood and metal. The patent date etched on the top of the chimney, "Patented May 21, 1867," is possibly the British patent date. The model was well made and, except for two small broken parts, is in excellent condition. Since a British manufacturing company obtained a U. S. Patent, the invention was possibly manufactured and used.
