21. Coating Articles with Celluloid, etc., U. S. Patent 202,441, April 16, 1878, John W. Hyatt, Newark, New Jersey

The invention is a process for coating articles with a plastic material, such as Celluloid, the coated article itself, and a die for use in such coating.

The model is 5" x 4" x 2" and made of dark wood with metal and plastic parts. Although damaged, two original Patent Office tags remain.

John W. Hyatt is the inventor of Celluloid, the first synthetic plastic that became a very important industrial product.
