18. Barb-Former (for barbed wire),U. S. Patent 179,625, July 4, 1876 ( United States Centennial date), James A. Swan, Joliet, Illinois.

This tool is used to make barbs on barbed wire.

The model is 8" x 2" x 1", is in excellent condition, and works. It is made of copper colored metal. It has an original Patent office tag and a tag that says, "Model taken from the debris of the fire of Sept. 24, 1877."
